Unit 7: Childbearing at Risk Unit 7 shifts the focus to at-risk pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. Pre-existing conditions of the woman, pregnancy-related complications, at-risk labour, emergencies associated with labour and birth, and medical conditions and complications affecting the postpartum woman are all covered. Treatment and nursing management are presented for each medical condition. This organization allows the student to build on a solid foundation of normal material when studying the at-risk content.
Over the past 20 years, she has taught undergraduate and graduate nursing education and conducted research in child and family health promotion, with a focus on parent education, child abuse prevention, and interprofessional education for health disciplines. In 2008, she was awarded the Excellence Award in Professional Nursing (Education) by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
